Art Practice
““I first experienced Jessica’s painting in an installation she created in Shepton Mallet Prison. Jessica had taken over a cell in one of the old wings. Her installation created a space that was profoundly peaceful in stark contrast to the energy of the rest of the prison—it was an extraordinary transformation. She led a meditation in the space, and when I saw her new work, I wanted to meditate with it.””
I create spaces of presence through painting, installation, colour, line, and architecture.
My work explores how a space can be felt as much as it can be seen. Through minimal paintings, site-responsive installations, and careful attention to light, form, and placement, I seek to create the conditions in which stillness can be experienced.
Every element is intentional. A line, an edge, a curve, a layer of paint, an object, or the relationship between a painting and a wall contributes to the atmosphere of a space. The work unfolds slowly, inviting reflection, quiet attention, and a heightened awareness of place.
Visitors often describe a shift when they encounter the work. They speak of calm, spaciousness, and a sense that time has slowed. The paintings do not ask for immediate interpretation; they invite presence.
My paintings are made through a meditative process of deep observation. Working with oil and house paint on canvas, linen, paper, and directly onto walls, I build each work through restraint, repetition, and attentive looking. What emerges is not simply an image but an experience of space.
Whether exhibited in a gallery, a home, or a site-responsive installation, each work forms part of a wider conversation about how art can transform the atmosphere of a place.
Commissions are available for homes, public spaces, and places of contemplation.

Commissions:
I welcome commissions for homes, public spaces, and places of contemplation.
Each work is created in response to a specific place, person, and conversation. I consider the architecture, atmosphere, light, and the quality of attention a space holds.
We begin with consultation. Colour, form, and composition are developed intuitively and through close listening—sometimes drawing from the thirteen archetypal forms held in From The Cave of Symbols, sometimes creating new forms specific to your space.
Each piece is made to belong to its environment and to support a particular quality of presence within it.
Whether creating a painting, a wall work, or a site-responsive installation, I work closely with each setting so that the finished work feels deeply connected to its context.
Commissions begin at £5,000.
